For the loot sheet, i was envisaging something more of a table, with columns and a header. Things I might jot down are: object name, powers/game effect, brief description, where it was found (and reference/page number), who has it.

I did start with a table, but I ended up with something that contained a lot of wasted space - some columns need multiple lines to be useful, which just wasted space in the rows that don't need them.

Another thing to note is whether the players know about the ability or not. So maybe a series of boxes (like you have now) with top line of name, where found, owner then next line description then next lines powers with a tick box if the players know about the power.

Hmmm... Almost a sheet per item, there ;). And then we'd have a lot of wasted space for just a potion with a single side effect about which the characters don't yet know.

So, as a compromise, I've increased the space available for notes, and included a 'Reference' field - you can now write up a longer description of the item in your gaming folder and reference it from the Loot Sheet (which can also be a reference on the character's sheet, too). I've also got rid of the landscape sheet, as the additional space for notes should hopefully mean that portrait orientation is fine.

Let me know what you think.

February's Focus on the Forest will be the Downloads section, with the objective of:

  1. Update the format of all the downloads so they are all consistent.
  2. Add halflings to the non-human races reference sheet.
  3. Add Ordo Draconis professions as individual reference sheets.
  4. Add Ordo Draconis professions to the Ranking Sheets.
  5. Creating and making available a canon character sheet & party reference sheet (i.e., one without Guile & Conviction and some of my own house-rule elements).

It's been a good February - except for not quite getting around to doing a Friar reference sheet, I've finished everything else (and a Loot Sheet besides!)

So what will March's focus be? I think adventures, with the objective of:

  1. Tidying up the presentation of this section.
  2. Publishing a map of the barony in which I set all of my adventures (should make the adventures I upload make more sense!)
  3. Some tweaks to my edit of the King Under the Forest adventure (I don't like the way elves are represented...).
  4. Publishing my edit of A Shadow on the Mist adventure (must finish the map).
  5. Uploading an adventure Dave Morris sent to me to share (needs some tweaking because it doesn't use DW stats and relies on some additional background I need to poke in there somewhere).

I have an edit of Hunter's Moon available, too, but my players haven't run through that yet, so I'm going to hold that back until they're finished with it.

Thanks Lee, the loot sheet looks good. I think there will always be a bit of white space anyway.

Looking forward to seeing the stuff from Dave M, and more of your marvelous work!

March has been a cruel month. Well, actually, it's been a great month, but it's not been kind to my creative time...

So all of the above will be carried forward into April - I have made progress on a number of fronts, including some stuff not included in the above list, but nothing that's ready to publish. I'll prioritise [1] and [5], so y'all can enjoy some new material soon :).

Well, I'm pleased to report that I've done [1], [2], and [5], but between all of that and making a start on the Brymstone material, I've not done anything on [3] or [4]. I'll start a new thread to talk about The Hollow Men (the adventure Dave M sent me to share), and there's still plenty of April left to go...

Check out the adventures page and let me know what y'all think.

A new month, brings a new focus in the Forest. I know I didn't quite finish all the adventure bits and pieces I had planned last month, but I did the biggies and the rest will keep for another month.

In the continuing absence of the Players' Book, I won't be touching the web apps this month, so instead I'll concentrate on combat:

  1. Reformat the combat section to match the new style being applied to the site
  2. Finish the Mounted Combat section
  3. Upload the Injuries section
  4. Upload the Combat Manoeuvres section
  5. Upload the Attacking with Speed section

And that's probably enough, given that I'm also still fiddling with the Brymstone material this month, too.

Watch this space :)

With the Players' Guide now out, I wanted to draw a line under this month's updates to the Forest and start incorporating some of the Players' Guide options into the downloads and apps available on my site. So before getting on with that, how well did I do against the above list?

Within the Combat Section, tasks [1], [3] and [4] are done. [2] is partially done and I haven't started uploading the whips and nets stuff for [5] at all. However, I have also uploaded the second of my Shadows on the Mist maps, which wasn't on the above list, and I've also continued to improve the format and cross-referencing on the site, which I think is probably makes May a good month overall :).

June will likely see lots of updates to the apps and downloads based on the Players' Guide content - I'm not going to post a list of activities as I have for previous months, as I'm still absorbing and thinking about how best to integrate the additional content, but expect updates to the Character Generator application and a few new downloads and reference sheets in the coming weeks.

As ever, requests and feedback are welcome.

I would like to see more of what you've done with the dangers of magic (e.g., taint and the like).

Watch this space - I look to open up some of the magic section of the library in coming months, then...

Due to some frustrations I'm having with the limitations of my current hosting provider (and the almost complete absence of support...), I'm transferring the Cobwebbed Forest to another hosting service. I'll aim to keep the disruptions to a minimum, but can't promise anything 'cos things like DNS updates are completely outside my control.

I'll post again when it's all over to the new host and working fine again.
