Dragon Warriors

Never having seen anything remotely like this before, Mthunzi stands dazed for a few moments.

Seeing his companions ready their weapons he draws his sword and moves into the shadows, hoping this monstrosity will not see him.

Ammu concentrates and the image of the leopard roars and slinks into the darkness, utterly ignored by the nightmare before them.

Ammus eyes open wide and the spectral form of Mother of Moons drifts out from the dying trees, the effect on the horrific form is immediate. It cowers down, scraping the ground with its malformed head....but then it stops and sniffs the air.

It stands up on its rear legs and it is now obvious that whatever it was now...at one point in its existance it was a man.

It stared at the image of Mother of Moons apparently perplexed that she was both here and not-here at once...

Ak'kulula watches open-mouthed, impressed at the fine mental control displayed by Ammu. As the creature stands up, he stares in horrified realization as the truth about the creature's origins slowly dawns on him. As his mind struggles to comprehend what had happened here, his heart grieves deeply for the man it once was.

Wrenching his attention back to the task before them, he moves quickly to crouch beside Ammu.

"Your power is great my friend. And it may yet save us all this day."
"Quickly now. Before the creature figures out the deception."
"Have the Mother of Moons send the creature away. Wave it away with an imperious gesture. And if it hesitates to obey, have the image glare fiercely at it for a few moments..."

Ak'kulula carefully studies the spectral image summoned forth by Ammu, committing to mind the form of the Mother of Moons, details of her face, her garments, her many accessories, and her manner of movement.

OOC - If the creature hesitates to obey, Ak'kulula will create a Mirage of cold fire that appears and grows in intensity surrounding Ammu's Mirage of the Mother of Moons, making her appear dangerously angry and about to punish the creature for its insolence.

Ammu does so.

The creature dropped back to all fours as its Mistress appeared to tell it to leave, it whined like a whipped child in confusion....but eventually fear seemed to win out and it retreated away from the group and back into the dying trees....

Ak'kulula watches cautiously until the monster had left the area and disappeared completely.

He quickly walks up and takes a very brief moment to examine the blackened trees and foliage corrupted by the creature. He is careful to avoid direct contact with his body but picks up a small (uncorrupted!) twig to poke and move the specimen.

OOC - What had happened to the plants? Are they diseased or completely dead and/or turned to ash? Can they possibly be restored?

Then picking up a rapid pace, he resumes as guide for the party of heroes. Bringing them on a slightly circuitous route to avoid the corrupted trees and foliage, he leads them onwards up the hill to the shrine.

"We are very near. Be ready my friends."

"Normally I would not strike a woman... but this... commands dark powers, we must stop her..."

*Grimaces*

"..by any means necessary..."
