Ak'kulula watches as the villagers rejoice and genuine celebrations begin. Joy fills his youthful heart. Joy and gratefulness. That he had a small part in all these by the grace of the Great Spirit.

He gently nudges the Prince. Looking earnestly at Kubluu, he nods his head in heartfelt affirmation and farewell. He whispers. "I take my leave now noble Prince. For the Great Spirit calls to me from the heart of the jungle."

"Come look for me at the Grandfather Tree in the cliffs two days to the east."

"It's been a joy and honor my Lord."

Ak'kulula bows low in respect. He turns and nods a farewell to each of his Companions, lingering just a brief moment longer on Ammu, then slinks back into the shadows under the trees. Within seconds, no sign of the boy remains.

OOC - Ak'kulula will not join the festivities. The whispers of the wind, the calls of the animals, and the vastness of the jungle suits him more than the close proximity of people and bodies, the noise and singing of celebration, and the copious amounts of strong drink.

The Mystic makes his way back to the place where the Shadow Beast was 1st encountered. The trees and vegetation touched by the Beast had turned gray and lifeless and crumbled to dust. Ak'kulula studies those trees and plants to understand the nature of the devastation, and to find some way to reverse it, and to prevent it.

Before the party can get too raucous, Chiemeka seeks out Kuublu.

"Congratulations, your Highness. Avoiding bloodshed in such a situation took courage and wisdom, and you have shown both today. It is an honour to have stood alongside you."

He pauses for a moment, watching the villagers celebrate.

"In the past I have been driven out of places such as this. My head is telling me to leave now. But my heart... maybe I will stay a while."

He bows to Kuublu and wanders off in search of a drink.

Kuublu stops dancing with the villagerettes to grasp both hans of Ak'.

"Yes! I will see you soon!"

Kuublu smiles sadly.

"It is... inevitable. But another day of joy without bloodshed, at least that of men is a blessing from the ancestors. May they protect us, and we in return honour their memories...."

"Do stay, the night is young, and great things have just begun!"

The feasting began and though both sides were wary...and not a little weary....things went well for the most part.

It was soon discovered that one of the mercenaries was of the same people as the two old warriors that had been rescued from Mother of Moons and they made plans to travel back to their homeland together to determine exactly who they were.

Ngela and Olmar took up the high stools again and Malim and Kuublu were given their own a little off to the side with Kuublu in between Olmar and Malim to smooth over any ill feeling that may surface during the night.

Two of the older mercenaries petitioned Kgosi Olmar to allow them to stay in the town and act as guards during the trading season, the majority of the younger ones determined to head north as they had heard talk that towns would pay handsomely for protection against Uktari raiders in the wet season.

Both Mthunzi and Ammu determined that they had had their fill of witchcraft and the like and determined to travel together into the mountains to see what could be found there in terms of opportunities.

The majority of the mercenaries decided to take Kuublu up on an offer of employment....coin was coin and regular coin better than irregular as far as they were determined.

Chiemeka spoke with the old cook about herbs and poultices and other more esoteric matters long into the night and came away with an increased understanding.

Pulgil disappeared sometime during the evening along with a younger couple from the town.....she turned up for breakfast the next morning happy if not well rested.

.........................................

Ak' settled into the crook of the branch and listened to the night sounds of the jungle, it had been a most unusual day or so and he needed sleep.

.......................................

The next morning, sore heads were nursed and goodbyes were made.

The companions bid farewell to those who were departing and wished them well on their journeys.

The group of mercenaries set out before dawn heading towards Kuublus garrison, Malim tarried to accompany the companions on the road. Olmar and Ngela embraced each of the companions in turn and gifted them with tokens of thanks.

Kuublu was informed that Ngelas daughter would be named Ubla in honor of him and they gave him a solid ebony wood shield engraved with figures of fierce warriors and polished to a high sheen.

Pulgil was gifted a hunting bow and arrows in a leopard skin quiver and a necklace carrying a large jade stone.

Chiemeka was gifted a pouch of healing herbs and ungents along with a solid ebony walking staff engraved with depictions of animals.

Ammu and Mthunzi were both given large iron hooked daggers and shields of hippo hide stretched over camelthorn wood frames.

Kuublu was given Ak's gift, a rattan and leather headband studded with greenstone bars and a hooked iron and ebony dagger with its grip carved to resemble one of his adopted people.

Kuublu will give Chiemeka his blood stained shield. The blood is not his. He bids farewell to all those who are not with him.

"Come. We should find Ak'. It seems he has important matters to attend to and may need our help.

Chiemeka takes the pouch and staff with grateful thanks to the people of the village. He also takes the shield from Kuublu, clasping the prince by the hand.

Securing the shield to his backpack and taking up the staff, he takes his place at Kuublu's side, ready to set off to find Ak'kulula.

Waving off the others Kuublu, Chiemeka and Pulgil started the trek out towards the Grandfather tree, there was no urgency so they took their time and relaxed and took in the beauty and bounty of the land around Iintombi Intlambo.

They stayed the night in a small hunters shelter that Ngela had told them about and later the next day found themselves on the hillside climbing towards where the lad had said he would meet them....

The three complete the climb to the top without trouble or difficulty. At the top of the hill, just as they are about to enter the forest again, a sudden flare, bright as daylight, appears to the east of them! A thunderous roar, distinctly that of a powerful man, sounds shortly after from the same direction, followed by a tremendous sound of something big and heavy being dragged out of the ground. The trees and undergrowth rustle, and suddenly the Kubluu finds himself staring at a boulder flying right at them!

The flying rock sails over their heads and crashes harmlessly into an ancient Kapok, rocking the mighty tree, eliciting a mighty cawing and chirping of disturbed birds nesting in it, causing its thick branches to rustle and many of its leaves to flutter down!

Seconds pass in the deafening silence broken only by the typical sounds of a jungle very much alive with birds and beasts of all kinds. There's a soft rustle, and the familiar form of Ak'kulula appears out of the thick undergrowth, from where mere seconds ago the boulder had flown out of. He looks at Kubluu, Pulgil and Chiemeka...and his young face splits into a shy smile. He walks forward to greet them.

Kuublu is alarmed, he shields Chiemeka with his body. Upon seeing Ak he grins and starts to dig out the gift the villagers had left for him....

-a rattan and leather headband studded with greenstone bars

-hooked iron and ebony dagger with its grip carved to resemble one of his adopted people.

"Prince. Revered Sir. Chieftain's Daughter." Ak'kulula bows to Kubluu, Chiemeka and Pulgil. "It brings me joy to see you again." His almond brown eyes twinkle merrily at them, certain that everything is well in Iintombi Intlambo. At least as well as things can ever be in a village community of men.

His eyes sparkle at the gifts Prince Kubluu has brought him. He accepts them with a thankful smile. "And the Kgosi's newborn child is well?"

His demeanor turns serious as he looks intently at Kubluu. "How may I serve you my Prince?"
