Kuublu stands his ground and readies his spear. This hopefully will be just an attempt at intimidation. Not necessary to start hostilities. But if they run close enough Kuublu will take a stab at them.

Ak'kulula recognizes the creatures as Wakuu or Great Ones, from the mountains and high grasslands. He realizes that the party may have infringed on their tribal territory by coming up onto the hillside.

He raises his hand to signal his companions to a halt.

"Weapon down. Keep still. No fierce move."

"Fruits have?"

Ak'kulula looks into the creatures' eyes calmly, showing that he is not afraid. Not breaking the eye contact, he gets down on one knee and bows in a gesture of submission.

OOC - If any of the companions bring forth some fruit from their rations, Ak'kulula will slowly in a non-threatening manner, take from them and present it before the creatures as a gift.

Kuublu lowers his spear and tries to imitate Ak' as best as he can.

Ammu suppresses an urge to shout "Hey Kuublu, here comes your mum!" and casts a Mirage of a ferocious leopard.

Whether Ak'kululas behaviours would have worked or whether the apes would have been frightened by the illusion remained a mystery for another day as the two great simians rushed past and over the companions without slowing and disappeared down the slope below.

A moment later the reason for their rapid descent came into view, green foliage turning black and crumbling to ash as a horror emerged from the suddenly dying jungle.

Kuublu gestures to the others to get behind him as he plans to … well, not sure about attacking. Are these ape creatures attacking? We should help! After some hesitation Kuublu moves and then runs down to the attack.

OOC: Not coming out too great. Had to zoom into the photo. Its got 4 limbs and long limbed structures… that’s all I can make out. Does this thing have a face?

Sudden unspeakable horror assails Ak'kulula's mind as the creature, that could only have appeared in the most terrifying nightmares of the wicked and the insane, emerges from under the foliage. For a moment, the lad watches in horrid fascination, transfixed by what he sees. The creature is not merely heart-stoppingly horrific in appearance, but brings with it such evil that the vibrant living jungle around it dies and turns to ash at its approach, utterly helpless before its corruption.

Recalling his training to mind, Ak'kulula wrestles successfully to bring his mind and body back under his control. He springs to his feet in an instant, ready for action. His machete comes into his hand with a familiar ease.

OOC - this is a better image I think.

Ak'kulula draws on his considerable mental powers, honed by long years of practice under Aunt Nansi's patient instruction, to push back the horror from overwhelming his mind. His enhanced senses reach out towards the creature and its surrounding, straining to detect any hint of magic. All his senses are in high alert, studying the creature and the surroundings, as his mind assesses the situation and considers possibilities...

OOC -
1. Using See Enchantment, can he see any hint of magic on the creature, its surroundings, and behind it where it came from?
2. Is the creature blocking the way up to the Mother of Moons' shrine? Can the companions bypass it?
3. The party just came up a cliff or hillside right? How high is the drop? Can the creature be lured and somehow made to fall down the cliff?
4. Drawing on his knowledge of jungle creatures, their sizes and their durability, how likely is it that the creature will be seriously injured or killed by the fall?
5. How big is the creature?
6. Any part of it that might look like a weakness? Eg: it seems to keep protecting the part, or keep it facing away from us, does its eyes avoid the sunlight, etc..

Kuublu will not run until he knows the others are safe. Also, if he runs away from this, how will he deal with the mother of moons. This thing is … 20ft tall right? Kuublu will stand his ground unless someone else has a smarter idea… or they all run away first....

Pulgil will stand ready to fight. Unless everybody else runs. Then she will run. This is frightening but she will not show weakness.
