Chiemeka tightens his grip on his staff and tries to calm his mind enough to recall the prayers that will bring the gods to his aid.

Ak'kulula draws on his considerable mental powers, honed by long years of practice under Aunt Nansi's patient instruction, to push back the horror from overwhelming his mind. His enhanced senses reach out towards the creature and its surrounding, straining to detect any hint of magic. All his senses are in high alert, studying the creature and the surroundings, as his mind assesses the situation and considers possibilities...

OOC -
1. Using See Enchantment, can he see any hint of magic on the creature, its surroundings, and behind it where it came from?
2. Is the creature blocking the way up to the Mother of Moons' shrine? Can the companions bypass it?
3. The party just came up a cliff or hillside right? How high is the drop? Can the creature be lured and somehow made to fall down the cliff?
4. Drawing on his knowledge of jungle creatures, their sizes and their durability, how likely is it that the creature will be seriously injured or killed by the fall?
5. How big is the creature?
6. Any part of it that might look like a weakness? Eg: it seems to keep protecting the part, or keep it facing away from us, does its eyes avoid the sunlight, etc..

OOC:

1. To Ak'kulula ( And others using similar abilities) the creature crawls with dark sorcery, shadowy and luminous.
2. The creature is very deliberately between you and the shrine.
3. it is a steep cliffside, but it seems little troubled with the terrain...as for how easily tricked it is unknown currently.
4. A natural creature, would probably be a little bruised and sore.....this is anything but natural...
5. 3m long, 2m at the shoulder.
6. Well its nighttime and raining so sunlight isn't really an issue....no obvious weaknesses.

Kuublu will not run until he knows the others are safe. Also, if he runs away from this, how will he deal with the mother of moons. This thing is … 20ft tall right? Kuublu will stand his ground unless someone else has a smarter idea… or they all run away first....

Pulgil will stand ready to fight. Unless everybody else runs. Then she will run. This is frightening but she will not show weakness.

The loathsome thing makes a low choking sound and you see the plant-life around it crumble to slimy black mulch.

It does not advance but seems content for the moment to have prevented your passage upwards.

"Begone foul thing!"

Kuublu steps forward, Javelin and shield raised, eyes glaring.

Ammu readies his bow and aims at the creature's face.

Also, if it is still in effect, I will send my leopard mirage forward toward the creature to see how it reacts.

Eyes locked on the ghastly creature just ahead of them in the distance, Ak'kulula whispers to Ammu in a low voice that carries among the companions.

"You have seen the Mother of Moons yes? Can you create her image?"
"Have the image command the creature to leave. And we see what happens..."

Thinking that a creature of darkness may be susceptible to fire, Chiemeka mentally rehearses the prayers needed to bring down the Fire of Horirem on the creature.

[OOC: if the creature makes any move to attack, or anyone in our party chooses to attack the creature, Chiemeka will cast Dragonbreath (assuming he has a line of sight and won't fry his companions by mistake!)]
