Ak'kulula leaps back at the first click of the trap being sprung. A look of relief shows on his face as he sees that Pulgil had escaped the trap without injury. He creeps forward gingerly. "I will walk in front."

Reaching out with his otherworldly senses, the Mystic probes the way ahead for danger or other presences, moving forward slowly...

ESP check: 1d100 12 vs 11%

Ak'kululas strange senses detect no...immediate..... danger ahead...

That iron axe blade... can I somehow break it off? I think it would make an excellent axe head....

Kuublu examines the hidden wall slit that the axe blade springs from and perceives that if the trap were triggered again and the blade somehow prevented from springing back into the trap it could be removed....though it will be dangerous as the blade is coated in some sort of viscous preserving oil and the mechanism seems quite strong....

Peering around the corner Pulgil and Ak'kulula see that way on is blocked by a flickering barrier of violet light that shimmers in the air between two carved pillars on either side of the passage. Through the shimmering, you can just barely discern the outlines of the corridor as it continues north.

Just in front of this barrier, set back in alcoves to your left and right, are two springs. In the western alcove, a chalky grey liquid issues from a snarling female stone face and
runs down into a basin beneath. The eastern spring is filled by a purple liquid that bubbles from a mans face sculpted in an expression of fear.

Forget the axe head for now. We can come back for it. Kuublu is a bit subdued, although he would be happy to advance he's still in a bad state. And when it comes to intellectual stuff he was really reluctant to get involved.,,

Before we bedded down, Chiemeka healed Kuublu for up to 10 HP, so hopefully he's not feeling too fragile..!

Ak'kulula reaches out with his enhanced senses to study, probe, and test the barrier of violet light. He does the same with the two fountains, the different colored liquids each spews forth, and the springs collected below them.

OOC - Ak'kulula's See Enchantment and Premonition gives any new info?

Premonition: 1d100 18 vs 39%

Both the liquids and the barrier carry enchantments as he suspected, the barrier has a slight, very slight..almost non-existant feeling of danger about it.....he feels no danger though a weird sensation from the grey liquid. The purple is confusing, it flickers back and forth between dangerous and safe as if his senses can't make up their mind.

Ak'kulula frowns at the inconclusive information his senses tell him but shares what he knows with his companions. He proceeds to perform some tests, careful to avoid getting any part of his body touched by the light or the liquid:

1. Dap piece of cloth generously in Kubluu's blood, hang cloth on the tip of his machete, then bring cloth into violet light.
2. Dap the same piece of bloodied cloth into the spring of grey liquid, then bring into violet light.
3. Dap the same piece of bloodied cloth into the spring of purple liquid, then bring into violet light.
4. Dip tip of his knife into the spring of grey liquid.
5. Get some grey liquid on knife, then bring it into violet light barrier allowing the light to bathe the blade.
6. Dip tip of his knife into the spring of purple liquid.
7. Get some purple liquid on knife, then bring it into violet light barrier allowing the light to bathe the blade.

OOC - Sorry. Quite out of character behavior for a jungleboy mystic actually. Too scientific. :( But yeah...don't know any other way to go about this...

"Perhaps we should throw some purple liquid into the barrier?"

Ak'kulula goes through a series of activities that seem somewhat similar to an animal trying an unfamiliar foodstuff...or the like....

OOC:

Doing this out of character cos easier.

1. Dap piece of cloth generously in Kubluu's blood, hang cloth on the tip of his machete, then bring cloth into violet light. No visible effect.
2. Dap the same piece of bloodied cloth into the spring of grey liquid, then bring into violet light. The blood takes on a slightly greyish colour but no other effect.
3. Dap the same piece of bloodied cloth into the spring of purple liquid, then bring into violet light. The cloth hisses and begins to dissolve....
4. Dip tip of his knife into the spring of grey liquid. No visible effect.
5. Get some grey liquid on knife, then bring it into violet light barrier allowing the light to bathe the blade. No visible effect.
6. Dip tip of his knife into the spring of purple liquid. The knife begins to pit and blacken...slowly.....
7. Get some purple liquid on knife, then bring it into violet light barrier allowing the light to bathe the blade. No further visible effect from above.

A grimace wrinkles his youthful face as the Mystic considers the result of his experiments. "It appears the purple liquid is a corrosive compound of some sort. It attacks both cloth and metals. The grey liquid on the other hand..." Ak'kulula shakes his head - this is the extent of what the results show.

He removes the circlet from his head and holds it in his hands, glancing from it to the barrier of light, to the two springs. He turns to look at Pulgil. "Chieftain's Daughter. What of the silver bowl you picked up? From the Hall of Winds? One of these two items might prove to be the key to unlocking this mystery..."
