A large stack of white stones and dark earth, seemingly a burial mounds of ages past, lies ahead of you. In its steep, stony sides, roughly hewn slabs of rock frame the entrance tunnel.

It seems like a gaping black mouth, seeping noxious vapours into the air of the valley.

Five yellow-stained skulls have been placed nearby— one atop the entrance and two to either side. As you draw near, their jaws open and they begin to chatter and shriek!

Chiemeka winces at the sound of the skulls. "Whatever is inside knows that we are approaching. We must be very careful."

Kuublu is irritated. Despite his tendency to respect the dead, he takes the knobkerrie and proceeds to silence these annoying skulls by obliterating them. He hopes the shrieks stop when he smashes them.

Kuublu smashes the skulls easily but the shrieking and wailing does not subside issuing up from the shattered remnants nonetheless....

"This is powerful magic or very dead magic," Uruka says. He attempts to see if he can recall learning about these things.

Uruka thinks back to his initiation and trials, he recalls the nkisi bumba fetishes made from ape skulls and the bopa nah tofa master who collected the skulls of those killed by the Thunderer to harness their power. He knew spirits could be harnessed to guard places and that those who were loyal to their master in life could follow them into death to serve them there....but he had not seen such things with his own eyes.

Kuublu passes the horned polearm to Uruka. "I have fought spirits before, they are like the wind and you cannot touch them, unless what you possess is blessed by the earth or other forces. Best you take this for now."

Uruka thanks the prince for the weapon. He shares his findings with the group and wonders if they should attempt to put the evil to rest.

Chimeka nods. "We cannot come this far and simply leave the evil here unchecked".

"Many more who come this way will be raised as lost souls, forever doomed to guard these paths, as we have seen. It is time to put this spirit chief to rest!"
