Uruka follows, using his flint and tinder to help with starting fires by lighting twigs and pitch he gathers.

Kuublu is of course deeply troubled. But he has to try this rather than a full frontal assault. If he could draw away the chicken men, maybe he can release the prisoners, and maybe start another fire on the interior after the villagers are released. In the confusion they might get a head start.

Uruka offers to draw the men away by attacking them from another direction.

More fires were lit and though they did not burn very hot they certainly created a deal of smoke and some of them began to creep very slowly through less damp pieces of underbrush flushing out hundreds of insects, lizards, snakes and other small animals.

Loud croaking calls sounded from the tops of the walls and very faint signs of movement could be seen in some places toward the top but there was no movement at the pivot-gate and it seemed they did not feel threatened by the small fires behind the massive walls.

It was hard for the trio to tell as they moved about how concealed they were from such a high vantage point, as they could barely see anything above the high walls....and why so high? For such a small compound the walls were higher than even those at the Wagadou capital.

As they tended the fires Uruka suddenly started and ducked behind a tree as an arrow the length of a mans leg punched solidly through a log beside him.....

In the jungle around them there were strange shrill calls and loud honking sounds as it seemed other denizens had caught the scent of smoke....

Ok, time to move out... Wonder if they trap actual birds in that structure?

Chiemeka does not need telling twice...

Kuublu and Chiemeka both found cover themselves, risking looks up towards the top of the walls where it seemed the arrow had come from; narrowing their eyes the two men saw there a number of almost spherical constructions of woven branches mounted against the sides of the supporting trees that buttressed the walls.

Slowly the fire began to creep further through the underbrush, though it was having a hard time with the waterlogged leaf-litter and mossy fallen branches....

Well, we'll just leave it for now. Maybe some oil might turn it smokey, but so far it'll do for now. Lets go scout out that structure and see how they get in and out. We'll sneak about of course....
