Jaafan continued to assault the centipede in front of him now that it was no longer targeting the former slaves. He stabs out with his spear once more, but as he jabs forward he can tell his aim is off.

Bypass Roll: 2d4 4

All the trios attacks against the remaining creature failed but it turned and fled anyway racing away through the undergrowth.

There was a sudden loud trumpeting call and a huge creature bounded into the clearing, it was roughly avian in shape but with clawed winglets and bulk similar to an elephant cow. Its thick black plumage covered the solid body atop powerfully muscled clawed feet. Its long narrow toothed beak clacked loudly at the humans crowned with a solid casque with large nostrils, it narrowed its small black eyes at the men and trumpted again; stomping its feet...

Jaafan turned toward the new beast slowly and spoke softly in a calm tone, ”Everyone back away, slowly, do not turn your back on it, or run. Just walk backward in to the forrest calmly.” he said as he moved to position himself between the creature and the escapees who were hopefully listening to his instructions.

He hoped that the fact the avian creature had not immediately attacked was a good sign that it simply wanted them to leave as opposed to it wanting to eat them. If they were lucky it would simply let them go without incident.

”And someone grab the unconscious fellow please.” he added.

If Kuublu still cannot stand, Chiemeka will drag him slowly away...

As soon as the humans had retreated a little the creatures long tooth studded jaws snapped out and picked up the thing that Jaafan had killed then swallowed it with one thrown-back head toss....its long beak-like jaw swept back and forth across the area, pulling in air through its large nostrils with noisy snorts....it fixed Jaafan with a look and looking down he noted he was covered with the centipede-creatures blood. After a few seconds of tense standoff it apparently made a decision and headed off quickly in the direction Urukas foe had fled....

Jaafan sighed, his shoulders sagging notably as the creature chased after the bugs instead of trying to eat him. After a moment of rest he turned and headed after the other humans, moving to help carry the unconscious foreigner if it would help the group move faster.

Jaafan briefly considered finding animal droppings to cover the scent of the centipede, but with some of his wounds still open he felt it best not to rub feces in them.

He urged the group onward. By their estimates they would have another full day in this jungle, so the more ground they covered the better.

Uruka cancels his turncoat spell and moves along with the rest.

After a few minutes of being drag/carried by Chiemeka and Uruka, Kuublu suddenly is able to move again, apparently conscious the entire time but unable to move or speak...
