The trio moved southward under the shadowy branches of the primeval forest, the trail was beginning to get easier to follow as if no pains were being taken to cover their tracks anymore. Suddenly there were loud cracking and breaking noises from a clearing ahead and the men could see a huge tree being shaken backwards and forwards.
A massive heavily-furred shape was stripping leafy branches from the tree and transferring them to its mouth with enourmous clawed forelimbs as it squatted on its haunches....it did not seem to notice the mens approach.
