Leaving Bretwald and Lucky behind, you follow the trail deeper into the woods, until you come to a roughly hewn clearing.

Tools, such as shovels, lie around the clearing, but what draws your eyes more is the large hole, right in the middle..

" Free tools!", said Laila a little too excitedly.

She moved carefully towards the edge to look in the hole.

Sten approaches and cautiously look into the hole

Calder follows suit with his sword and shield drawn as he carefully approaches the hole

The hole is perhaps twenty metres across, and you see the marks of work around it, and piles of soil dotted around the clearing.

As you approach you note the ropes that are tied off to strong pegs, the ropes going down the pit.

You make your way gingerly to the pit's edge and look down. Wisps of mist come from the pit and from your vantage point, which, hopefully, is not too near the edge, you see the ropes go down to blackness.

“People below?” Calder whispers.
“We go down check?”

Corvin cautiously approaches the hole and peers inside muttering “What manner of man or faerie created such a vast hole? Looking at his companions he asks “Is it a mind of some sort or it’s too regular to be natural surely!”

Sten reaches down and pulls on 1 of the ropes if it comes up freely he pulls it all the way up
"Godric would you mind starting a fire"?

Laila starts pulling up other ropes.
