Does anyone use the Elementalist as it is written in the (new) DW book?

I don't. Apart from their general lack of ability and versatility, I don't think they have the coherence and proper development of the other professions. Even the arguably over-powered professions like the Warlock and Assassin are at least definitely well thought out and fully rounded.

Yep. Never had any problems. But most of that use has been in Glissom where they have the advantages of social standings.

I have just sent some ideas for the general pattern of the elementalist (spells, mighty skills...) and the first element (fire) to Wodenkrait for his opinion.

If anyone else created his own spellbook, feel free to share your ideas (I ve readen the wiki ideas, and probably one day I will ask more détails about the "faint" magic system of Cobwebbed, )

Some highlights from my own home-brew elementer profession:

• They have a herbalism ability that allows them to brew sorcerous potions with ingredients harvested from terrain appropriate to their elemental speciality.
• Air elementers do not suffer asphyxiation and only take half falling damage.
• Earth elementers have +1 AF, always know which direction is North, and suffer exhaustion penalties at half the normal rate.
• Fire elementers never suffer environmental damage from being too hot or cold, and may add 1 point of damage when making unarmed attacks.
• Water elementers may breathe freely underwater, never suffer dehydration penalties, and get +4 to swim checks.
• Each elementer type has a few raw essence abilities (combat and utilitarian) that use MPs, separate from their spells.
• At 8th rank, an elementer may transform into an elemental. Roll 2d10 each round until you roll under your Psychic Talent score to indicate the transformation is complete (Defence and Evasion are 0 during the transformation). It's the same process for turning back (i.e., the elementer may maintain elemental form for as long as he likes, but cannot speak or cast spells whilst in elemental form).
• at 12th rank, elementers may hibernate to extend their lifespan.

The spell lists are being tweaked following some playtesting, and I'll make those available when they're ready.
