Combat, Magic & Social are really easy to understand.

But if you could just details and explain more on the Exploration and the Investigation parts of your comments, and add multiple examples please, that would be appreciate!

So this way, I may improve my games. (My players will definitely like that.)

By the way, Hello everybody!

Hi Supremacy, and welcome to the Dragon Warriors forum - I'm glad there was a thread that was able to lure you out in to the open :).

Exploration: The skills and abilities you need to discover something about or from the environment - be that finding traps in the underworld, gaining ingress to the baron's castle unseen, or following a fleeing criminal's trail through the wilderness (and much more besides).

Investigation: Probably just a sub-category of the social challenges, but where I consider social challenges to be convincing a gate guard to let you in town after-hours, or navigating the bureaucratic hurdles of the clerk to see the magistrate, an investigative challenge would require skills that pierce subtefuges and deceits - finding out who killed the monk, or who fenced the baroness's jewelled brooch, etc.

They're very loose definitions with a lot of overlap - whether a particular encounter requires social, magical, or combat skills is entirely up to the players - a judge may be swayed with social arguments, magical charms, or intimidating threats, but some cunning investigation might also reveal blackmail opportunities. Any party, with any skills, should be able to face any challenge set by the GM, but for some parties the options will be more limited - if you have a breadth of abilities, you have a breadth of options and that's why I chose the 6-man adventuring crew that I did.

Thank you for the answers, they open up new opportunities for my games.

As they are a bit loose explanations, they will be easy to include.

I will work a bit on them and see how my players react.
