I'm not aware of any material changes between the Bestiary editions (except those incidental additions you mention).

Interesting that the "Malgash" was known as the "Balrog" in non-English editions as it's always been the "Malgash" since the first edition, as far as I know (and, presumably, the same copyright concerns would exist in any language). The Malgash even spawned a Dragon Warriors fan-site of the same name:

It's an old site, but has some interesting house-rule ideas on there that can still be plumbed for inspiration :).

Maybe we we expand rules of adventuring we could have more creatures that clamber up walls or dealing with flying creatures. What if a player wants to jump from height to grab a flying head? We know what happens when he misses.

Was there rules about aquatic fighting in one of the later supplements? haven't had time to do more than look at the cover and pictures on that one...

Anyone got guidelines on how far an unskilled swimmer can immerse himself? I mean, to what depth? Just that if something drags you under I figure it can be quite lethal even without metal armour. Heard stories of people getting nosebleeds just 20ft under.
