Wow...I never knew there was a forum for Dragon Warriors!

I first came across DW in the late 1980's in John Menzies in my local town in North West England!

The first two books were purchased and I set about getting to grips with the basics! With this completed I introduced a friend to the game, with me as DM, and very quickly we were both immersed in a world we created which would become the back drop for a huge series of adventures over the coming years.

The world (Fak-Tule) developed with a rich history and culture which I eventually wrote up in a five thousand word almanac!

Creating this world generated a lot of paper material, "world" maps, character sheets, detailed city maps, dungeon maps...a lot of it I still have stored for that day when we return to Fak-Tule and catch up with some of our favourite characters and locations!

Right...I'm off for a ale in The Crown near the Palace in Marlock!

Hm... I remember my days in the uni cluster in the late 90's and discovering the dragwars group... Can't remember, it was not exactly a yahoogroups, and I was so new to the internet which was really featureless back then....

We've only been here for a couple of months, but this forum is a successor to the DRAGWARS yahoogroup that ran for over fifteen years. You can find the archives for that group at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dragwars/

and some people have talked about efforts to make at least the best posts from it more accessible.

Welcome!

I'd love to see some of that stuff. In fact, maybe we can have a thread on the forum for alternative DW game worlds for those of us GMs who didn't or don't use Legend for their games (who Dave Morris described as "Autocratic GMs!).

Cheers,

-Kyle

I ran the AD&D Dragonlance modules using Dragon Warriors rules back in the 1980s (my group liked the idea of the Dragonlance Chronicles adventures, but I was sick of running AD&D instead of Dragon Warriors, so I forced a compromise - that created massive work for me converting things...)

Is there any way to create polls on this forum? It could be obvious but I can't find out where to look for that stuff. I'd like to create a poll to see how common it is for people to use their own gameworlds versus Legend.

Cheers,

-Kyle

When I select 'New Topic' I have the ability to create a poll among the options. I don't know if that is because I am a moderator or is more widely available. Try it and see - if not, PM me the poll question and I will set it up.

<Drool>

Please share! There's plenty of help available from us passionate few that still play Dragon Warriors if you need a hand typing, scanning, transcribing, etc., any of your old material.

I'd get a huge kick from seeing just a small amount of the "Fak-Tule" material! Someone's enthusiastic 1980s campaign = nostalgic and creative gold dust.
