The pillar of green light flickers as Max, Laila and Calder take swords and race back to the stairs.

Those that look back may be shocked to see their shadows remain, fixed in the position that they were as the swords were taken. The shadows that flit behind them seem ragged and faded.

Sten and Drystan step forward to meet the foul Morgrin face to spectral visage. Cramped on the stairs as they are, they do their best.

Sten, Serpent-Tongue's sword in hand, launches a savage attack against the specter and strikes a mighty blow. The creature's sly smile slips and he hisses his hate at Sten who, much to his surprise as a bolt of cold travels up his sword arm, has the most strange urge to hiss back.

Master Corvin, backing up his fellows, feels his Hold Off the Dead spell falter under the sheet power of Morgrin's presence.

Drystan, his thin frame magically enhanced, whacks at the specter with his staff, using all his might. A solid blow connects, pushing the undead traitor back, yet he soon recovers and steps forward.

Calder o' the Mask races to the steps with his new sword, and hacks at the back of Morgrin, yet his step is untrue and he misses. The steps are more open at the bottom and allow the comrades access.

Letting Max lead the way, Laila headed up the stairs towards the spirit with a manic grin and an unnerving cackle. Max cuts at the specter but misses in the heat of battle. Slashing at the back of the creature, Laila sees his spectral garb rip and tear, as he howls in pain.

Fr. Bretwald prays silently under his breath. Should the opportunity present itself, he would be glad of a blow against this evil.

With the first sound that you have heard from Lucky since his rebirth, he lets out a loud cry, and almost lopes towards Morgrin, leaping up the steps and launching himself at the specter. He lands on the spirit's back and starts clawing at the evil thing.

Morgrin shrieks to the depths of the earth, and his evil look intensified, strikes at Drystan with a hard blow. The white blade cuts at the Mystic and raises a white steaming wound upon his chest.

Sten a little surprised both at his urge to hiss and that gremlin Lucky has launched into the fray the way he has swings his sword but is well wide of the mark

Surprised by little Lucky flying past his head like an enraged gremlin, Max turns his blade at the last moment and manages to avoid striking his diminutive companion. Unfortunately the manoeuvre also meant that he failed to land a strike on the apparition.

Momentarily Max wonders how Lucky he is able to gain purchase on this spirit of the underworld, then inspired by Laila’s aggressive assault, Max launches back into the fray swinging his blade a second time at the foul being.

Overreaching however, Max cusses as his blade again goes wide of the mark.

Corvin casts Lesser Healing in Drystan. Whilst racking his brain for some spell which might affect this fell apparition of legend.

Sten's blow against the spectral creature goes well wide of the mark, while his compatriot in the front rank hits home with his staff with a palpable off, yet the creature presses its attack, hitting at Sten with a mighty spectral sword blow. [5HP to Sten]

The diminutive Lucky scrapes and claws at the back of the undead Morgrin, who tries to shake him loose, but to no avail.

Drystan feels a burst of warmth as Corvin mutters some arcane phrase, healing him.

The valiant trio from the rear attack, Max cussing as his blow goes awry. Yet Laila and Calder's swords both cut into Morgrin, cutting at spectral flesh, wisps of grey smoke seeping into the air.

At the rear Fr. Bretwald clutches his holy symbol and mutters a prayer under his breath.

Morgrin screeches an unholy cry to the air and pushes forward, determined to take the vexatious creatures in front of him down.

By the Gods! The crazed Lucky somehow clinging to Morgrin was distracting! Hearing Corvin’s shout of encouragement, Max tries to channel some of Laila’s focus and swings again.

Attack roll of 9 is Max’s best so far but I’m not sure if it’s a hit or not.

Elated by his lucky hit, Calder strikes again. However, he misses due to the excitement.

[Or does he?]
