We fill this in as we go. For now the simplest of instructions.

Roll 3d6 five times. Record the results.

I'm going to roll a character up with you all as we go along.

There are five characteristics.

Strength
Reflexes
Intelligence
Psychic Talent
Looks

There is a suggestion in the game that a character with 2 characteristics below average (i.e. less than 9) can be rerolled, so if anyone wants to take advantage of that rule, let me know..

In this, we'll decide what Profession we play and give our characters a name.

Knights, Barbarians, Assassins, Elementalists and Warlocks, as well as a wealth of other options are available in the full game.

For this to keep it basic we'll be choosing between Knights and Barbarians to give us the essentials we use in play.

Which of these character types take your fancy? Has your character leapt up and told you their name?

Barbarians are better in attack, but defensively less skilful than Knights. Their fighting style is fast and mobile, and heavy armour hampers them. They are able to go berserk in combat, making their attacks still more ferocious.
Play a Barbarian if you want a character who could be a Viking warrior, or a skilled brawler from the pages of fantasy novels, like Conan or
Fafhrd.


Knights are the best all-around fighters in Dragon Warriors. Though physically less robustthan Barbarians, they are able to wear heavy
armour without losing any of their combat skills. Play a Knight if you want a character who strives to be like King Arthur, or Lancelot, or Gawain.

Once we're past HP and Professions we'll move onto secondary characteristics. We've worked out the physical and mental side of your characters, now it's time to look in a bit more depth.

For a Knight, your Attack score is 13 and Defence is 7. A Barbarian has Attack of 14 and a Defence of 6. These are base scores. What you rolled up for your STR, REF, INT and PSY are going to influence these, either up or down.

There's more than these two secondary characteristics. We'll get to them.

We'll work out just what Attack and Defence you all have.

Perception, Stealth, Evasion, Magical Defence

Magical Defence for Knights and Barbarians is 3

As martial heroes you don't have a Magical Attack score.

Evasion is 4 for a Knight, and 5 for a Barbarian.
Stealth is 13 and Perception is 5 for both Knights and Barbarians.
And here's a table for what your adjustments are.
